
M.P. WOODWARD is the U.S. Naval Institute’s 2025 Author of the Year, and New York Times bestselling author. He debuted with the Handler CIA espionage series (The Handler and Dead Drop), and has written three books at the helm of the Jack Ryan Jr. series. His most recent book in the series is Terminal Velocity. In 2026 he will write his first book in the Jack Ryan Sr. series, The Coldest War.
Woodward also has a standalone naval novel, Red Tide, pitched as a cross between Red Storm Rising and The Winds of War by Herman Wouk. This is arguably his finest work.
Woodward is a veteran of the US Navy. As a naval intelligence officer with the US Pacific Command, he scripted scenario moves and countermoves for US war game exercises in the Middle East. In multiple deployments to the Persian Gulf and Far East, he worked alongside US Special Forces, CIA, and NSA.
After leaving the Navy, Woodward went on to an international career in tech and streaming media.
Woodward lives in the Pacific Northwest.
