In a move that has sent ripples through the Tom Clancy fan community, a major announcement was made today: the author duo Andrews & Wilson will be concluding their tenure on the iconic Jack Ryan series. Executive Power is to be their final novel.

Their upcoming novel, Executive Power, is set to be their final contribution to the Ryanverse.

The news came via a joint statement released by the authors, in which they described the decision to move on as a difficult one. “It is with mixed emotions that we announce that our next #JackRyan novel, EXECUTIVE POWER, will be the last Andrews & Wilson installment in the #Clancy-verse,” they stated. “It was a hard decision to pass on more books in this amazing series and it has been our great #honor to be a part of the Ryan universe.”

Fans have come to appreciate the duo’s steady hand in guiding the adventures of Jack Ryan and the wider cast of characters at The Campus. The authors expressed their own fondness for the world they’ve been a part of, adding, “We will miss penning all the iconic Jack Ryan characters—as well as those we had the privilege to create.”

Here at The Campus Files, I’ve followed their work with great admiration. As highlighted in my review, their debut novel in the Ryanverse, Act of Defiance, was a particular highlight, a truly great entry in the series that balanced thrilling action with new characters, and was the best sequel I could imagine for The Hunt for Red October.

It’s been a pleasure to read what they’ve added to the series, and I look forward to what they do next. I will, of course, continue to promote their work and try to bring them to new readers.

While this marks the end of an era, it is not the end of the Ryanverse. Andrews & Wilson have expressed their trust in their friend, and series editor, Tom Colgan to “place the series in capable hands,” and have assured fans that they will be “the first in line to buy follow-on installments.”

Nor is it the end for Andrews & Wilson. They’ve hinted at “new developments that prompted this difficult decision,” with more details to be shared in the coming weeks. Fans can also rest assured that their other popular series, including Tier One, Sons of Valor, and Shepherds, will continue.
