As I highlighted in my review, “Stewart’s background shines in Pressure Depth’s maritime and naval sequences. The operational details surrounding the USNS Salvor, the DARPA Manta Ray drone, and the mechanics of saturation diving are sharp and engaging”.
Furthermore, Jack Stewart weaves terrifying real-world history, such as the Byford Dolphin decompression accident, alongside nostalgic callbacks to classic Clancy lore. Seeing Mary Pat and Ed Foley discuss Cold War technology from The Hunt for Red October era alongside explicit references to the legendary asset CARDINAL provides a sense of continuity that long-time readers will treasure.

To go beyond the surface of Pressure Depth, I sat down with Jack Stewart for an extensive Q&A interview to discuss character arcs, operational security, and the future of The Campus. One of the most compelling aspects of our discussion was how Jack Stewart approaches Jack Ryan Jr.’s long-standing struggle with maturity.
Over the years, Junior has sometimes been portrayed as an action tourist who wants the thrill of field operations without fully committing to the sacrifice.
